Shaping the
Northwest since 1981

Over four decades in business and more than 500 successfully completed projects

It is upon this solid foundation of experience that we approach all challenges — crafting architectural solutions that feel timeless, intelligent, and inspired.

Experience

With a vast and varied body of work spanning 40 years, Milbrandt Architects has grown to become one of the Northwest’s most prolific and trusted architectural firms, specializing in multi- and single-family residential, mixed-use developments, and communal amenity spaces. Our commitment to excellence is unparalleled, and our people-first approach sets us apart, ensuring successful projects and satisfied clients.

Collaboration

Our work is developed in a collaborative atmosphere that celebrates creativity, research, analysis, and open-minded communication every step of the way. In addition to our core project team, we invite clients, stakeholders, and consultants into the creative process as valued contributors. Together we explore a project’s goals, examine its needs, and work to design and deliver built environments that inspire its occupants and foster a sense of community.

Integrity

Along with our architectural expertise, we strive to integrate creativity, history, culture, and environment into every project. The result? Developments that are greater than the sum of their parts — buildings that are beautiful and efficient, contextual yet fresh, reflective of the present moment yet designed to stand the test of time.

Company History

  • Founded in 1981 by Seattle-area architect Len Milbrandt, Milbrandt Architects began as a two-person firm with humble beginnings. The team’s first project (and big break) was a 270-unit residential development in Kirkland, WA for Lincoln Property Company. The new contract required a bigger team and more studio space, sparking growth and launching Milbrandt Architects along its journey.

  • After identifying a small vacant Eastside site, Milbrandt formed a five-member partnership to develop a new 9,000 sf office building — the concept for which was designed by Len himself. The Station Office Building in Bellevue became the home of Milbrandt Architects for the next twenty-five years.

  • Despite the many challenges brought on by the national savings and loan crisis of the early 90s, Milbrandt Architects persevered through thick and thin, ultimately emerging with renewed strength, determination, and experience that ignited the decades-long run that continues today.

  • January 2007 marked the beginning of a new chapter for Milbrandt Architecture with the firm’s ownership transitioning to principals Robert Weible and Rick Tolleshaug who would be at the helm for the better part of 10 years.

  • In early 2017, Anna Thompson and David Vincent began ownership transition, carrying the Milbrandt torch into its fourth decade and beyond.
